Installing Waterproof Rooftop Photovoltaic Brackets
Roofs can be categorized into tiled roofs, flat concrete roofs, and metal roofs. For the installation of rooftop solar power stations, waterproofing is a crucial factor!
Waterproofing for Flat Concrete Roof Photovoltaic Brackets
For newly constructed flat concrete roofs or sloped concrete roofs (with tiles) of villas, bolts are generally pre-embedded during the design phase, and standard waterproofing methods are applied to the roof. For the above-mentioned existing buildings, the roof structure must first be confirmed. When connecting the base of the components to the structural layer, the area around the metal embedded parts at the top of the base is a weak point for waterproofing. If not handled properly, rainwater can easily seep into the structural layer around the embedded bolts, leading to corrosion of the reinforcing steel in the structural layer, which can pose safety risks.
Waterproofing for Metal Roof Photovoltaic Bracket Installation
For metal roofs, the steel structure of the photovoltaic bracket needs to penetrate the original waterproof layer and pressed steel plates, and be fixed to the main steel structure of the building. Then, according to metal roof waterproofing standards, vapor barriers, insulation, and waterproofing treatments are applied. The key construction points include rust removal, anti-corrosion, sealing, and applying base and surrounding waterproof coatings. For local leaks on metal roofs, high-quality neutral weather-resistant sealants should be used for sealing. Heavily corroded sections of the metal sheets should be replaced before installing photovoltaic components.
For existing flat concrete roofs or sloped concrete roofs (with tiles) on villas, if chemical anchor bolts are used to fix the photovoltaic brackets, the thickness of the protective layer or coating should first be confirmed. For precast slab roofs with high load-bearing capacity per unit area, precast cement pier foundations can be used to fix the brackets. After the brackets are cured, chemical anchor bolts can be used for further fixation. For tiled sloped roofs, the depth of the holes should be confirmed, and after the chemical anchor bolts are fixed, the areas where the bolts pass through the tiles should be sealed with waterproof sealant.
